David Wainwright started his career at 16 by writing computer games for the 80's micro computer market and wrote circa 20 games that collectively sold over 5 million units. In 1990, he later founded Andromeda Interactive, the electronic publishing and CD-ROM division of Andromeda (Oxford) Limited, a leading book packager working with all of the major book publishers worldwide. In 1993, Andromeda (Oxford) was sold to Cable & Wireless at which time, Mr. Wainwright was tasked to create the "Superhighway" division for Cable & Wireless, researching emerging online industries. In 1995, he led a management buyout of the division, with financing from Durlacher PLC, to form Hi2 Limited which became a digital agency specialising in online computer games. Clients included AOL, Freeserve, Hasbro, ITV and Tiscali. In 2005, Hi2 formed a joint venture with Opera Telecom, called TelecomsTV, to specialise in interactive television formats. TelecomsTVs delivered interactive television formats to over 30 territories and was the first company to rollout the highly lucrative CallTV throughout Europe. In 2004, Hi2 launched onto the Sky platform with Vegas 247, the world’s first live casino channel. Vegas247 grew quickly and within 18 months of inception floated on AIM, conducting a reverse takeover with Stream Plc to what is now known as NetplayTV PLC (market capitalization circa £60 million). The TelecomsTV staff and technology form the basis of the LGT platform today. At LGT he continues to innovate live gaming - casino, Bingo and soft "TV formats".
